There is something for everyone on the 4th of July in Music City!!
Let Freedom Sing is for those that want to rock out to some country and party down! Red, White and Boom is a great event at the Adventure Science Center for the little ones. For the folks that want to experience Nashville’s tasty options head to the Music City Hot Chicken Festival. Exercise buffs can get fit and run the Music City July 4th 5k/10k Run, and there is always the fireworks show at Nashville Shores if you want to cool off and be surrounded by water park fun!
LET FREEDOM SING: This FREE event will be downtown with the Jack Daniels Stage set up at 1st Ave and Broadway. It starts about 6:30 and goes until 10p. Billy Currington, Ashley Monroe, and the Striking Matches with rock the stage and the Nashville Symphony will perform an original medley alongside 30,000 fireworks that will light up the sky for 27 minutes! Just for fun… Help Dippin’ Dots’ achieve their world record setting goal! If they can do it, the entire crowd will be served free Dippin’ Dots’ after the record is confirmed! RED WHITE AND BOOM: Adventure Science Center located at 800 Fort Negley Blvd will have their event beginning at 6pm. Ticket prices vary from 20$-75$ and some include the laser show. You can hear live music from the School of Rock, see science demonstrations, enjoy food trucks and Ben and Jerry’s Icecream, and of course… see the downtown fireworks! MUSIC CITY HOT CHICKEN FESTIVAL: The Hot Chicken Festival will take place on Friday in East Park from 11am – 3p. This free event will involve live music, beer from Yazoo Brewing, and of course, lots of Hot Chicken! Show up early because the first 500 people will get two free sample tickets! Lots of vendors will be there with all kinds of tasty wings, tenders and thighs to make your mouth water… and don’t worry if you can’t handle the heat… there will be other yummy foods as well! Make sure to catch the final event! The Amateur Cooking Contest where six teams will create their own versions of hot chicken! www.hot-chicken.com
MUSIC CITY JULY 4TH 5K/10K RUN: If you’d like to start your celebration of our country with some physical activity, head to Public Square Park at 2nd Ave North and Union Street. Race registration begins at 7am and costs 40$ and the race starts at 8a! Proceeds benefit the Salvation Army. Runners of all ages and fitness levels can participate in a 5k race that loops around Public Square Park (twice for those running the 10k race)
NASHVILLE SHORES: Nashville Shores at Percy Priest is hosting a fireworks show that will surely awe the crowds. The reflection of the fireworks against the lake is stunning: Two shows in one! The event will begin at dusk but you can spend the whole day at Nashville Shores. The waterpark is fully equipped with slides, pools and lazy rivers. There is also a marina where you can rent wave runners and pontoon boats! Not to worry if you this doesn’t fit into your 4th plans, Nashville Shores is available to you all summer long and has a second fireworks event on Aug 31st!
