Celebrate East Nashville art at the East Side Art Stumble

East Side Art Stumble

There’ve been lengthy articles and even a full-length documentary devoted to the strength of the East Nashville music scene. The visual art scene in the neighborhood, on the other hand — despite vibrant growth — doesn’t get quite as many showcase opportunities.

That’s why we were glad to see the East Side Art Stumble — a monthly East Side art crawl of sorts, organized by neighborhood galleries and other businesses — pop up a few months back.

On the second Saturday of each month, participating spots — from Red Arrow Gallery in Inglewood to Main Street Gallery and KT Wolf Gallery closer to 5 Points, plus shops like Sawtooth Print Shop — host openings, exhibitions and events celebrating local art, from painters to printers to felters to sculptors.

The event runs rain or shine from 6 to 9 p.m., and if you plan your Stumble right, you can hit multiple events, do some admiring and some shopping and, over the course of three hours, get an introduction to or deeper insight into East Nashville’s art scene.

July’s East Side Art Stumble is set for Saturday, July 11, and here’s a peek at a few of the artists, venues and organizations participating:

Main Street Gallery

625 Main Street

Molly Howell

Nashville artist Molly Howell will be showing her abstract works on wood canvas, like the above. Check out more of her work on Instagram at @mollyhowellart.

The Red Arrow Gallery

1311 McGavock Pike

Visiting artist Patrick Adams shows work from his new series, In Two Worlds, meant to “use the landscape as a metaphor for art’s role in unifying the human experience of the physical and spiritual worlds.”

Handmade Nashville Arts & Crafts Fair

Curvy Yoga, 123 S. 11th St.

Cute Fluffin Stitch

A mix of local artisans will be sharing handcrafted work at this pop-up fair, ranging from health and beauty products by Ashwood Estates to snuggly stuffed friends from Cute Fluffin Stitch (above). Check out more participants at the Handmade Nashville Facebook event page.

Those are just a few of your stumble options — for the full list, visit the East Side Art Stumble website.

If you see or buy something awesome Saturday, we’d love to hear about it!
