Home design style picks of 2016 from the Pinterest 100

Pinterest 100

To kick off the year, the Internet’s favorite digital/social ideas board, Pinterest, gathered up 100 trending pins that represented what’d be front-of-mind in 2016, from food and crafts to home design.

We picked through the latter to give a little insight into what stagers, builders and style-forward homeowners are doing to their spaces (according to Pinterest trends). And to illustrate, we found examples in homes on the market in Nashville now. Take a look through:

Home trends from the Pinterest 100 for 2016

316 Rosebank

The Pinterest 100: Gender-neutral nurseries

316 Rosebank Ave
Nashville, TN 37206
PRICE: $599,900

The light and airy nursery in this East Nashville home couldn’t be cuter — sweet without being cutesy and clean without being antiseptic, and on point with the gender-neutral grays, white and orange. Subtle and spacious as this room is (the rest of the house is plenty spacious too — you have nearly 3,000 square feet, with 3 more beds and 2 1/2 baths), it’ll easily grow into a big-kid room.

627 Royal OaksThe Pinterest 100: geometric patterned tiles for the floor, backsplash or a countertop

627 Royal Oaks Pl
Nashville, TN 37205
PRICE: $1,929,000

This beautiful bath in Belle Meade keeps things classic, but pulls a pop of pattern in the floor tile that really grabs your attention. It takes what could’ve otherwise been a pretty common bathroom design and brings some added interest.

3706 Hilltop Ln

The Pinterest 100: Black and white interiors with organic elements

3706 Hilltop Ln
Nashville, TN 37216
PRICE: $365,000

The black cabinetry and white walls in this Inglewood kitchen bring in sleek and cool vibes; the natural butcher block counter top injects warmth. It’s a great combo, for sure. (And there’s lots more dynamic and smart design throughout this 3-bed, 2 1/2-bath renovation.)

404 Woodmont Hall Pl

The Pinterest 100: bright graphic throw pillows to make your space come alive.

404 Woodmont Hall Pl
Nashville, TN 37205
PRICE: $749,000

A pitch-perfect example of the power of throw pillows: This Green Hills home stays subtle when it comes to wall and trim color, but shoos away the hospital-room gloom with big pops of color, much of it coming in pillow form. (The ottomans make this bedroom feel extra cozy, too.) Click through the rest of this 4-bed, 4 full/2 half-bath home for some more home design inspiration — some excellent staging over every inch of its 3400-plus square feet.

2227 Belmont Blvd

The Pinterest 100: Scandinavian-inspired design

2227 Belmont Blvd
Nashville, TN 37212
PRICE: $1,725,000

An appreciation of the simplicity of Scandinavian design is nothing new — and there are a lot of reasons behind its staying power. A big one, as evidenced in the dining set in this beautiful 4-bed, 3 1/2-bath Belmont home: the style’s proven ability to play well with others, like this more ornate light fixture.

1212 Laurel

The Pinterest 100: “It’s all about gray. Gunmetal is the new copper and shades of gray will take over”

1212 Laurel St #301
Nashville, TN 37203
PRICE: $406,650

White kitchen cabinets have been the more common choice over the past few years, but we’re seeing more branching out — like the deep gray in this 1-bed, 1-bath unit at Twelve Twelve in The Gulch. What’s your verdict: think it adds depth, or do you prefer the cleaner look of light/white cabinetry?
