M Fleurs Nashville offers ‘eternal roses’ that last a full year

This year for Valentine’s Day, you can get your Nashville Valentine a crop of flowers with a little more staying power: A local outpost of M Fleurs — a Montreal-bred luxury florist — recently opened in East Nashville, where they’re offering custom arrangements set in high-end, high-style boxes, and their trademark “Eternal Roses”: real, preserved flowers that’ll last a full year, with no watering and no fuss.

The M Fleurs Nashville shop shares a mix of options, from single “La Solitaire” roses in sleek acrylic boxes to a brimming La Boite à chapeau (aka hat box) with dozens of colorful blooms.

Personalization options are plentiful, too, from adding custom die-cut decals to your arrangement’s box to tacking on a box of French macaroons to accessorize the flowers.

An M Fleurs specialty: flowers for your cool, creative Valentine

Overall, M Fleurs Nashville arrangements are inspired by high fashion and luxury materials — like augmented blooms that take notes from Chanel designs, or box designs that mimic Italian Portoro and Carrara marble.

The unusual and fun offerings that first caught our attention: M Fleurs’ hand-painted, Chanel-inspired roses pictured below, with black-tipped petals; and their limited-edition gold and black blooms (up top), that feel striking and elegant and offer a seriously bold-gold “wow” factor.

If hand-painted blooms aren’t your thing, their all-over color choices alone give you a chance to lean out of the ordinary and expected, from rose petals that pop with lively green to deep royal blue and all-around shimmering gold.

These are definitely not your standard grocery-store-after-work flowers — especially since the Eternal ones can become part of your Valentine’s home decor for months to come.

How ‘Eternal Roses’ work

M Fleurs doesn’t offer a deep peek into the process behind their preserved “Eternal Roses,” but the company isn’t the only one offering these kinds of longer-lasting, real blooms.

For most of the preserved roses on the market, the process of creating their longevity involves a mix of dehydrating fresh flowers, introducing a mix of natural oils and wax to bring back the look and feel of soft petals, and de-coloring and re-coloring the blooms with classic and creative dyes.

If you feel like you might miss the “smelling the roses” part of the equation, “luxury scents” can be added to the flowers, too (you can choose between Orange Blossom, Very Berry and Vanilla Bean).

The results look fresh and fun, and aside of occasional dusting (and keeping your preserved roses from baking in direct sunlight), the only care you’ll really need to provide is a loving, stroll-by gaze or 12 as the seasons pass.
