I recently came upon a great quote, attributed to Nashville author and Parnassus Books founder Ann Patchett:
“Humor is what happens when we’re told the truth quicker and more directly than we’re used to.”
If you live/spend any time on the Eastside, it’s no news to you that Rosepepper’s marquee has become the neighborhood’s go-to provider of regular funny, with ever-changing shout-outs that bring Saunders’ quote to life.
Maybe the best indicator that they’re nailing it? Actor/one of the best-loved sharers of Internet funny George Takei has spread the Rosepepper word on more than one occasion, to tens of thousands of appreciative thumbs-ups.
Their latest seasonal message, above, might be their best yet. To show our appreciation, we rounded up and rounded out to our 10 favorite Rosepepper truths:
2: Poetry doesn’t need to rhyme to be profound.
3. Admitting that it’s awkward makes it less awkward, right?
4. Admitting that it’s awkward doesn’t always make it less awkward.
5. They say to always listen to your heart.
6. They say you gotta have faith.
7. An oldie but a goodie.
9. Friends don’t let friends post-Rosepepper dial.
10. It’s the kind of love we all aspire toward.
Did we miss any particularly great ones? Remind us in the comments.
If you’ve never been by Rosepepper yet, it’s encouraged for more than the laughs, particularly if you’re a margarita fan (they won the Best of Nashville Best Margarita straight through from 2002-2013). Head to 1907 Eastland Avenue, and enjoy.
